Under armed escort: Gideon’s Angel London launch

image-(1)Browsers at Blackwell’s bookshop on the Charing Cross Road appeared somewhat alarmed (and needless to say confused) to stumble on three sword-wielding soldiers in the Business & Management aisles last Tuesday evening. Aware of the recently uncovered plotting by devil-worshiping malcontents, Lord General Cromwell had kindly provided me with an armed escort from the Earl of Manchester’s regiment for the launch of Gideon’s Angel. Jonathan Oliver of Solaris Books sat down with me to discuss the genesis of the novel, the challenges of writing historical fantasy, and on how not to write sword-fighting scenes. A good time was had by all and afterwards, most of us repaired to a nearby tavern to raise a glass or two. My thanks to all who came by and lent their support.photo
